Internet Explorer 8 Connectivity Problem and Solution

If you are getting connection problems with Internet Explorer 8, try the solution below.

Usually this problem manifests itself when opening a URL or IE8 by itself: It just hangs there indicating connecting but nothing happens.

After you close and open IE8 several times, it may finally connect. Google Chrome nor FireFox experience such problem on the same desktop.

In our experience the problem is a conflict with AVG Anti-Virus and its Link Scanner. If you disable Link Scanner all connectivity problems disappear.
